Description

Sahara. She'd wondered, once upon a time, if her future had been foreshadowed by the name her parents had chosen for their baby girl when she'd first been born. Now, when she thought of it at all, she did so with a touch of irony. It was a perfect fit.

Her heart and soul were as dry and withered as the desert she'd been named for. Her skin was as cold as a desert night while her wrath burned as hot as the desert sun.

A blending of their own names, Sarah and Harold Wright, her mother and father couldn't have chosen any more appropriately if they had tried; if they had somehow known in advance what she would one day become.

When her parents were murdered on the night of her 15th birthday and her own mortal life was stolen, Sahara's anger forced her on a quest for vengeance. Finally, a decade later, it's time for revenge...

"I deliver justice, Hector. The ultimate justice. I have to tell you this because it's my policy to let the accused know why they're going to die.

See, I mete out my brand of punishment only for specific crimes. Your Maker will take care of punishing you for all other wrongdoings, but I will have your death for your part in arranging for my parents to be killed. I will see you dead for taking my human life.

Now, Hector, let the fight begin."

She sprang at him. He flew toward her. The two met in the air. They whipped around and spun in circles so fast even Ben's vastly improved vision couldn't keep up with their moves. He held his breath, terrified for the woman he loved.

Vladislov gripped Ben's arm to calm and reassure him. And most of all, to keep Ben from interfering. It was natural for Ben to want to protect Sahara, but she was far more skilled than he, for now. Any interference from Ben could make it more dangerous for her.

It was a good thing Vladislov was holding him so tightly, because at one point, Hector had Sahara pinned on the concrete floor. A quick backflip reversed the roles, landing Sahara on top. Hector was no slouch when it came to combat, though, and he escaped her hold.

They were back in the air now, their movements a frenzied, deadly dance.
