Description
Two years ago, Avery Dane (aka Lauren Helm) survived a violent four-day abduction. Barely. The world thinks she's dead, and she chooses to leave it that way. Starting a new life hasn't been easy, but she's pretty sure it's preferable to facing the public and pretending nothing has changed.
Because life has changed. Drastically. Her world is a darker, scarier place. She avoids people and keeps her secrets at all costs. Even the love of her life, pro hockey player Noah Stevenson, believes she's dead. It's best that way, because she's no longer the girl he fell in love with. Being with her now would ruin his career, and hockey has been his life for too long to have it ripped away.
Avery has gradually come to accept her new reality... what choice does she have? It's too late to change things now, even if she had the courage to try. Or so she thinks. Then her best friend challenges her to think again, while at the same time God begins nudging her toward hope and healing.
And then Noah shows up at her door.
