Description
A sexual blackmailer killed at a company dinner? That seems "perfectly natural"to the raunchy ex-Marine who set up the party. But he gets the blame, as does his lady lawyer-friend, who cooked the bouillabaise, a fish stew he can't even spell!
Then when someone pushes him down stairs to his NEAR-DEATH, he reluctantly figures he better try to solve the murder before the murderer succeeds in killing him and his lawyer-cook friend.
In alternating chapters the two amateurs describe their efforts -- often frantic and comical. Often dangerous. And they begin a lusty romance.
Hoping they will put that off until they catch her killer, the oriiginal victim, perched iin Purgatory, kibitzes comicallly with frustration and varying degrees of hope."A jolly good read," a Star reviewer says, "a joy-ride of misdirection." Author and Washington Post writer John Burgess says the book "crackles with fabulous Noir prose!"
