Description
When unexpected tragedy strikes in 1942, Grace Daniels suddenly finds herself responsible for supporting her Mama and five siblings. Living in a two-room house with no electricity or running water in the wild and savage bottomland of East Texas makes that task more difficult.
Grace makes a plan to keep the family fed and alive for the upcoming winter and sets out to accomplish her goal for a better life. As with all good plans, destiny and fate intervene.
Morris Embrey lived in the city all his life and came from a successful family. He has no idea what it's like to be poor or hungry. He is filling in as deputy for his uncle, the sheriff, when he first sees Grace sitting on the porch of her family's dilapidated old house. Immediately, he realizes she is the girl of his dreams but his uncle, the sheriff, does not want him going near her and will not tell him why.
A series of events brings them together. But with her papa, a bootlegger, and Morris, a lawman, can their relationship survive?
Only time will tell.
