Description
When a parent or caregiver hears the words "your child is autistic," their life is fundamentally changed. From that moment forward, there are countless feelings of insecurity, fear and doubt which too often are faced alone and in isolation from any network of friends or family who can truly understand and lend effective support. This collection of individual memoirs, guidance, and resources from eleven mothers of loved ones with autism is a means to break down that isolation and let caregivers know that there is a path forward. Not only is there a path forward, but there is no need to walk that path alone. This book will inspire and comfort new and veteran family members with the knowledge that even though there is no medical solution, their unconditional love and commitment to these individuals and support of other families like theirs is the ultimate response. Consider this book a group hug from women in the trenches who have not only survived, but thrived.
