Description
Growing plants without soil is one of the exciting ways to make our agricultural process more efficient. And this is what hydroponics is! It is an improvement on the centuries-old practices of soil farming. In this practice, plants are grown by providing them with nutrients in the absence of soil. Soil provides the plants with nutrients and anchors plant roots. The mechanism of hydroponics involves the provision of a complete nutrient formula for the plant and a growing channel that anchors the roots of the plants so that they access their nutrients and water easily. The mineral-nutrient solution is dissolved in a water solvent and is easily accessible to the plant roots. This enables the plant to use less water, grow faster, and harvested sooner. With hydroponics, it is possible to grow more plants in the same spaces provided by soil and you do not have to worry about diseases in the soil or pest. There is no need to bother about weeding too.
As population continues to increase, so will be need for housing and urbanization. Lands that ought to have been used for farming will be used for housing and other infrastructure and in a short while, sustainable food production will become a serious challenge. Hydroponics is the solution. Hydroponics is the future.
