Description
It is estimated that in the UK alone, 30,000 women will experience birth trauma each year. Birth trauma is a definition that covers a range of negative birthing experiences and can result in post-natal depression, stress, anger, fear, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), hypervigilance, flashbacks, nightmares and feeling triggered by birth or babies. The 'Life After Birth Trauma - The Road to Recovery' book project was set up to give a platform for survivors of birth trauma to share their experiences, to create awareness and education surrounding birth, and to show the world that whilst birth trauma does happen, it is possible to recover - we did. The key to ending birth trauma is education and awareness. Once we start having open conversations about birth, parents can be prepared and empowered. We hope our stories will inspire positive change; we hope they will create education and awareness. We experienced trauma but we did recover, and we are stronger than ever.
