Bronze winner 2020 Foreward INDIES, war and military
A brilliant novel: the quality of the writing and story-telling is second to none. Goodreads
This is the story of the forgotten men from the Forgotten War. In the first year of their captivity in the camps on the Yalu half of the POWs died. Swede spent much of that winter in a small cage. He decided the Chinese might kill him but they would not defeat him. Once he was allowed to join the other prisoners he helped create a secret army to fight back. The Chinese called these men Reactionaries-and feared them. For two more years Swede and the others fought their secret war, paying a heavy price when they were caught. After seventy years of being kept in the dark, their story is one that must be told.
Excellent writing, depth of detail, riveting characters, and attention to historical facts... a fine treatment of little-known history. Reader's Favorite
