Description
Frieda, at sixteen, lost everything in a moment. A mine explosion shook the community and many people lost loved ones, but only Frieda lost her family and home at the same time. While they prayed at the boundary of the mine, a hot piece of rock landed on her home burning it to the ground. With few options, she focused her energy of leaving Mine Country and making her own way in life. Leaving the town, that was surrounded by mountains, only accessible by train through a long tunnel, would be the hardest step in her escape.
She was hindered when an unexpected man turned up in the same boxcar she was using to leave Mine Country. When they jumped from the moving boxcar, Frieda landed safely, but Parker did not. Rather than walk away, she helped Parker with his broken leg while the bones healed.
Six weeks after she left Mine Country, Frieda was again alone in the world as she walked with her few possessions strapped to her back until a kind rancher offered her a ride to the next town. From then on, Frieda matured and grew until she found a place to call her own. Working in exchange for things that would make her travel easier, Frieda began to build for her future.
Stopping in a secluded valley in the Ozark Mountains, Frieda expected to on her way again, but several things kept her in the valley.
