Description
He thought he'd left his life as a detective behind. But the past has a deadly way of catching up.
Former Detective Inspector Gus Freeman never expected to be pulled back into policing. Years after his wife's death, he's still learning how to live without her. Now, with a small team of detectives, he is tasked with reopening Wiltshire's forgotten murders.
Fatal Decision
Sixty-eight-year-old Daphne Tolliver was beaten to death on her daily walk. With no motive and no suspects, her case gathered dust. Gus's team uncover overlooked witnesses and inconsistencies, and in the process, Gus must also confront the hollow silence left by Tess, and whether he's ready to live again.
Last Orders
Trudi Villiers, a young barmaid, was stabbed to death in 2003. Gus's review exposes police misconduct and a killer who's evaded justice for fifteen years. At the same time, Gus finds himself directly in the crosshairs of criminals determined to keep the past buried.
Pressure Point
Laura Mallinder was found stabbed at her workplace, dismissed as another victim of vice. Gus's team discover witnesses ignored, alibis full of cracks, and family secrets long concealed. Beneath the grim detail, each detective wrestles with their own private battles -- from new love to old grief, from recovery to reinvention.
The box set blends the steady intrigue of British police procedural with the rich, human stories of the detectives behind the desk. A must-read for fans of Sally Rigby, Faith Martin, and Joy Ellis.

Praise for The Freeman Files:
Good characters, tight plots, and enough red herrings to keep you guessing until the end.
A little Columbo, a little Perry Mason, a little Sherlock Holmes all rolled up into one!
Just when you think you have it figured out, wham!! You don't even have a clue.
I really couldn't put this down. Cold-case files? Village life? Budding romances? I enjoyed every bit of it. Try it!
I loved the characters. An aging attractive former DI closing cold cases. getting into romantic situations and learning new technology!
The Freeman Files are a compelling counterpoint to the typical adrenalized, Hollywood-influenced thrillers. Instead, Mr Tayler's stories feel authentic, genuine, and human.
I'm usually quite good at figuring out mysteries, but not these... If you like Agatha Christy, you'll like these.
A cross between DCI Banks and Unforgotten.
It would make a great TV Series if Hollywood would wake up and take a look at it.
I already know that I will be reading all 20 in this series!!
