Although Wells didn't invent the idea of The Time Machine (ancient Buddhist and Hindu myths cope with the topic), he coined the phrase and popularized the idea. The Time Machine is among the earliest and most influential types of science fiction. It gave birth to the proper time travel subgenre that could inspire a large number of 20th-century writers. Editions carried the subtitle An Invention Early. Although Wells dropped the subtitle in later editions, it reminds readers of the novel's central question: Maybe the fantastic story a lie or a prophetic vision?
