Description
When Elizabeth Bennet meets Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy at the Assembly Ball, he refers to her aloud as being not handsome enough to tempt him. As a result, she thinks him rude, boorish and arrogant.
However, Mr Darcy has a secret. He works as an agent of His Majesty's Government. When he is informed that Napoleon has escaped from the island of Elba, he is forced to return to London with his friend and colleague Mr Charles Bingley. Both of them are given orders to travel to France to deliver letters and documents. They are gone for some time and as a result, Lizzy and her sister Jane assume that both men are disinterested in them as potential suitors.
Through the machinations of The Chief, The Quartermaster and Miss Farthing, they prove to be of assistance to The Duke of Wellington before a great and decisive conflict at Waterloo.
However, will love prevail between the eldest Bennet sisters and the two men who appear to admire them but who must also fulfil their duty to their government?
This is a funny and affectionate variation on Jane Austen's beloved novel showing how the business of espionage affects her immortal characters.
