Description

As the title suggests, there are two complete novels in this single book. I decided to publish these two short novels (55000 words apiece) in one book as they are linked by having the similar theme of an alien race trying to colonise a new planet. As you will discover, the invading aliens are very different but equally deadly. In book one: The Avalons; it is Earth that is under threat from an alien entity that can only exist in a suitable environment. In book two: Humans; it is us who are the invaders. I have tried to keep the science credible, but who is to say what credible will be in the future. In book one: The Avalons; the alien invaders are in the form of quantum information broadcast from another planet. A team from SETI initially identifies some strange about a gamma ray burst but interest in the event dissipates when a scientist uploads radical software into a newly developed quantum computer, with staggering results. Tania Brown, head of cyber security in the United States remains sceptical about the new quantum revolution. With gritty determination, she starts to unravel what is really happening. At the same time, two MI6 operatives in the United Kingdom are also concerned about unfolding events. Tristan Whitcombe and Scarlett Dagger liaise with Tania, realising they need to form a team to take on the deadly content of the evolving quantum internet, not realising until too late all of humanity is on the brink of being exterminated. In book two: Humans; at the end of the 39th century, Earth is on the brink of dying. Over the last three centuries, huge space craft have journeyed to distant worlds identified as suitable for colonising. Joshua and Carrie are two young adults selected to be part of the crew for the next mission. When they arrive on their new home planet, the alien life forms become increasingly sinister, threatening to bring failure to the mission. During one long night, events take a serious turn for the worse, leaving Joshua and Carrie wondering if they can ever survive on their new home.
