Description
Cat inherits a griffin guardian when she turns sixteen and joins a band of magic warriors and tricksters, but the Ring's greatest mission will be to rescue one of their own without one spell, relying on tricks and the appearance of the mysterious Clover, with his own secrets.
Banned from her village by her brother after their mother's death, Cat and Amara move to an enchanted forest, but are once again called to duty as part of Princess Nola's famous Ring of Friends, a band made up of magic warriors and tricksters. The Rona Edeana, cold and greedy mistress of Fanchon, has kidnapped Prince Ryu, Nola's brother, and the Ring must march into the Rona's castle to rescue him, yet without casting one spell in order to disguise their journey.
With the help of Clover, an unexpected and determined young man, and Hunter of Grioghar, a large blue beast, Cat learns surprising facts about her father's disappearance, her mother's gifts, and the elusive Clover, who helps Cat guarantee the success of Nola's plans in a way no one could have predicted. In the end, Cat faces choices about the direction of her life, and true to her trickster nature, offers surprises of her own.
Ingenuity overcomes magic.
