Back home, when Maya's worst fears come true during Proper's annual Purity Festival and the once-extinct disease resurfaces, chaos erupts, and she and the boys are forced to flee as Proper burns behind them -- taking Maya's dirty secret with it.
Thrust into an unfamiliar world of thieves, baby wranglers, and flesh dealers, the threesome heads south toward rumored safety. But with Colonial Lindy hunting them, the path to the Free Zone grows more and more dangerous.
