When Taylor arrived at her childhood home after skipping her mother's funeral, she thought she would hate being back in the woods, in that cabin that she'd practically ran from fifteen years ago.
But it didn't take long for Taylor to see how different things were this time.
The cabin looked nothing like it did back then and being away from the city and going for hikes was having a surprisingly relaxing effect on her.
The woman who lived next door was also turning out to be very good company, despite the fact that she had been good friends with her mother.
And Taylor had figured her life out now. She wasn't a struggling teenager anymore. She was thirty-three years old, and she ran a successful marketing agency in New York City.
Taylor was proud of how far she'd come. Maybe, she was finally ready to face her past.
Lynn had no idea her neighbor and friend, Kathy, had a daughter. Not until Taylor showed up at the cabin.
Not once had Kathy mentioned her.
Lynn had been missing her friend, and even though Taylor wasn't staying long, Lynn found herself enjoying the younger woman's company, curious to find out how Lynn had no idea Taylor even existed.
The evenings weren't as long when she shared a bottle of wine or had dinner with Taylor, but as Lynn got to know her, she was shocked to find out that the version of Kathy that Taylor had known was nothing like the woman Lynn had called her friend for more than ten years.
As they spend more time together, Taylor wonders if she should keep the cabin and not sell it like she'd planned.
She could see herself getting away from the city and coming here the odd weekend.
And when they act on the growing attraction between them, Taylor has another decision to make.
Should they even bother pursuing whatever was going on between them?
Or was this a fling? Something that seemed like the most natural thing after spending so much time together, sitting out by the bonfire behind Lynn's house or being snowed in together when a storm hits.
