Description
Written in the Sun is the thirty-ninth literary anthology from the Scribblers of Brevard. The title, a reflection of the Florida location of its authors, marks a bold departure from the previous formula of numbered editions of 'Driftwood' and within its pages is a fascinating and eclectic collection of short stories, memoir, poetry and fifty word mini-sagas. A wide range of themes, subjects and genres is utilized by authors who each have a very unique approach to writing; flavored not just by the warmth of the Florida sun but by their experiences and recollections of people, places and events in different time periods. The result is a richly satisfying book with that will provoke many re-readings. The first six entries (three short stories and three poems) are the first, second and third placed winners of the 2021 Brevard Scribblers Writing Competition. Several of the authors featured, including some of the competition winners, are long-established published writers whereas some are fledging writers, flexing their literary wings and showcasing their exciting potential. In a year that has seen some of the most dramatic events in recent history, this is a literary anthology that draws on the emotions generated by these, to explore what it means to belong, to feel alienated, to be afraid, to lose, to love and to hope.
