Description
What could a tenderhearted social worker whose job it is to help people possibly have in common with a scary thug who's nothing but trouble?
When social worker Avery Mitchell follows up on a tip and discovers a pair of abandoned brothers at the fleabag motel on the edge of town, she finds more than she bargained for. The brothers she can help, but the scruffy thug who's been looking after them is another story. Mr. Tripp, as the boys call him, is unsettling and intimidating, but he's also got a sarcastic streak a mile wide and occasionally, an unexpected twinkle in his eye. He's also way too handsome for an obvious criminal.
He is a criminal, right?
Sure, caring for two needy brothers has cramped Tripp's style, but how could he do anything less? Now, his only choice is to trust them to the system -- which he doesn't. Worse, the social worker sent to help seems to find trouble. Or rather, trouble finds her -- meaning, suddenly, he's keeping an eye on Miss Mitchell, too. She's easy on the eyes and kind of sweet -- if he can get past the fact that she's a woman who splits up families. The problem is, he has a real job to do, and, not only does looking after Miss Mitchell conflict with his work, it threatens to haul her into danger.
What's a guy with an overblown protective streak supposed to do?
Sensitive content: Who You Really Are is a clean romance with light faith themes. However, it also contains some incidences of non-graphic violence.
