It is Darcy and Lizzy's first Christmas since their marriage. They intend to spend the day with Charles and Jane at Bingley's nearby estate of Donwell. Thereafter they will spend the rest of the season, up to and including Twelfth Night, at Pemberley and invite members of Lizzy's family.
At Pemberley an unexpected guest arrives. He is the agent of a money lender from London. It seems that Mr Bennet has run up a debt and faces debtors' prison. Darcy and Bingley decide to ride to London at once to try to negotiate with the money lender, a flinty old miser called Ebenezer Scrooge.
In their absence, the celebrations proceed at Pemberley, marred only by Mr Wood-Carton, who promises he will compose and perform a very special Christmas carol.
Darcy and Bingley meet Mr Scrooge after Christmas Day and find him a transformed man. They return home, eager to share the good news with Mr Bennet. As they approach Pemberley however, they stop at a nearby village and Darcy realises how he can put Scrooge's good example to practical use.
They arrive home just before Twelfth Night. And just in time to enjoy Mr Wood-Carton's newly composed carol...
This is a sweet, funny and affectionate variation on Jane Austen's beloved novel set during Lizzy's first Christmas at Pemberley.
