I had little desire to cook, but instead to travel. I fell in love with Mediterranean history and all the ancient artifacts, sites, and temples from the area. I remember taking classes in college simply because they focused on Greek or Lebanese history. But cooking their cuisine? That wasn't on my agenda until much later. On my first trip through the Parthenon in Athens, I learned how much I adored food. When I came home after the trip, I learned how much I loved making the food -- probably more than I enjoyed eating it!

However, I started to eat just a little too much baba ghanoush, among other international foods.

Eating healthy may not be easy if you don't know which foods are good for you. Learning to cook? Sometimes, that can be harder than trying to stay trim! In fact, I have burned about two dozen pans in my lifetime -- all of which had to be thrown away, along with the little burnt bits of the delicious food I'd been trying to make.

Let's face the truth: weight loss is the hardest of them all. Eating healthy and learning to cook are wonderful goals but easier than dropping the stubborn pounds that simply refuse to budge. Weight loss can be incredibly difficult, discouraging, and disheartening. You may feel like you've tried every diet in the book and haven't seen the results you keep looking for. While it may be hard to muster the courage to try again, I urge you to do so.
