Description

"If I could be half the person my dog is, I'd be twice the
human I am." -- Charles Yu

Moving on from the trauma of combat in Afghanistan, former Green Beret Captain Sam Dale has just begun to settle down in his hometown of Castle Rock, Colorado. Now the owner of several small businesses, he is unaware that his world is about to be turned upside down. The call comes in at 2:30 a.m. The skies outside have opened up, unleashing a torrential rainstorm. Sam's small towing company is being tasked with the retrieval of some kind of crashed aircraft.

At the site and up close, Sam soon suspects this is no ordinary aircraft. Could it be... some kind of small alien ship? And that's when Sam comes face-to-face with the pilot -- one who goes by the name of Cypress.

Sam will soon learn that a massive fleet of warships has recently jumped into the solar system, originating from the planet Naru. Soon, the initial stages of terra-displacement will ensue -- the ravishing of Earth's natural resources and genocide of the human populace. Sam and Cypress discover their goals are more aligned than expected -- deciding to work together, albeit reluctantly. First up, they must recruit an army of local townsfolk. Unfortunately, too few of them are only marginally acceptable. Others are downright misfits. While it is time to defend a now totally isolated Castle Rock, it is also time to play offense and take the battle to the alien fleet up in space. Sam will now have to become the man he has fought so hard to leave in the past. The decorated Green Beret, the one with killer instincts and combat skills like few others.

And so, the epic interstellar saga, The Fallen Ship, begins...

Reviews:

Hometown Boy Rescues Dog, Tows Spacecraft
I had a blast reading an advance copy of The Fallen Ship. Mark Wayne McGinnis and Kim McGinnis have crafted an imaginative, fast-paced, and utterly satisfying adventure. Where else will you find Harper, a restaurant server, Scott, a two-hearted alien, Cypress, a two-minded talking dog, Julian, a bath-robed genius, and dueling AIs-all of which intersect the life of Sam Dale, a perfectly normal, '66 Mustang-driving, decorated Afghanistan war veteran, retired Green Beret, serial entrepreneur, tow-truck driving good Samaritan? Oh-I almost forgot-there are nanites, cops, and donuts too! ("Donut", incidentally, used as both noun AND verb!) You've got to read this book.-C. Duell

The Fallen Ship / Golden Retrievers Rule!
Yes, they do. Lol. Read the book and relish how pups can be awesome. A little simplistic but then again this is a very good book with well fleshed out characters. An alien is forced to merge with a dog named Rocko. Together with an AI named Gia and an ex-Green Beret named Sam, they take on an alien AI who has taken over the minds of a rampaging alien race, intent on destroying all life on earth. Why? Natural resources earth provides. Fast read and well worth the time.- AC

Great alien invasion science fiction with a twist! Lol!
A funny and military-type alien invasion that's going to be very hard to wait on the next book! I usually don't like waiting on a book series, but this book is sometimes funny, sad, and nonstop action I always expect from Mr. McGinnis! I'll wait for the next book patiently (not), please keep turning out more military scifi books in this series Lol!- KC

The Fallen Ship, Rise of the Gia Rebellion falls into the following categories: Metaphysical and Visionary, Galactic Empire, Alien Invasion, First Contact, Fun Space Adventure, Humorous SciFi, Space Exploration, Space Opera, Military Science Fiction, Space Fleet, Space Marine, Hard Sci-Fi
