Description
About The Author:
Captain Bill Collier is arguably the most experienced helicopter pilot in the world. Unsettled by PTSD acquired while flying 43 months of combat in the Vietnam war, he returned to civilian flying with a need to be constantly on the move.
Captain Bill flew four summers in Alaska, months in Saudi Arabia, two years in the South Pacific and decades around the USA. He landed atop Mt. Whitney, rescued people, fought forest fires, lifted crashed aircraft of the tops of mountains, crop dusted, became expert at lifting heavy objects to the tops of tall buildings, barnstormed fairs, acted as a test pilot, and much, much more. His last flying gig was being the senior pilot for Orange County Fire Department in Southern California.
He flew 40 different kinds of helicopters in 13 countries and 27 states. He flew for 22 different companies or government entities and had at least a dozen whisker-thin close calls with a fiery, slicing-dicing Death-by-Helicopter.
If you are a helicopter pilot, a fixed-wing pilot, or simply love true-life travel and adventure stories, you will enjoy Captain Bill's book, an honest, human, somewhat self-deprecating, and sometimes amusing look at the real world of
helicopter flying. This is the third book of the Captain Bill's trilogy.
