Description
April wasn't willing to sit back and let the world pass her by. Just because she was left on the steps of an orphan home at birth didn't mean she had to accept that she was less than everyone else. Her hard work and determination helped her rise above her poor beginnings with the help from Miss Maggie, one of the matrons at the orphan home, and Lilly, her best friend.
Together Lilly and April dreamed of a better life than the one they had been given. Lilly came from a poor family and was lumped in the same category as an orphan so they grew up as underdogs. That coupled with being girls didn't help.
To Lilly's dismay, her dear friend took a job as a scullery maid after they finished school. April also changed her name at the same time to Abigail. She wanted to start her new life with a name of her choosing not something she was tagged with because she arrived at the orphan home in April.
Abby couldn't see why men could choose their career but women couldn't. With no father and mother to honor, and no husband to obey, she worked hard to make her way in life. All work and no play left Abby unprepared to face her first encounter with romance... Infatuation.
