Description
With the focus on public schools in our current public debate, with the threats to public education on every front, what is it really like to be a public-school teacher? This is my story. It is a memoir of a decades-long love for a career that challenges and rewards; devastates and uplifts.
I wish to let teachers, parents, students, and concerned citizens see the life of a high school classroom through my ¬window. I want to appeal to young people who might be considering a career in public education and help them to make decisions. You never know until you have classes of your own -- just how much your students can surprise, terrify, and delight you. You never really know if your experience is the same as anyone else's, or if you are in this thing alone. We need more great teachers to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century! These stories may help you understand the depth and complexity of a noble profession.
