The Story
Fred is a crab who lives alone on the beach. He's content living alone, cleaning his beach, and playing with his ball, but when his ball gets lost in the sea, he needs help! A shy seagull offers to help him find it, but as you can imagine, it's not as easily done. Their day of adventure becomes a test of trust, listening, and teamwork for this duo.

Adventure
The story of Fred & Mavis explores the dynamic between two strangers who become unlikely friends. As Fred & Mavis band together, they teach children the importance of giving others a chance. Their friendship sees them through obstacles in honest, relatable, and humorous situations. They learn that problem-solving, being part of a team, and trusting others can be fun!

Trust
In fact, sometimes trusting someone who is different from you can be the hardest part, but Fred & Mavis show us how wonderful the reward can be!

Beautiful
Fred and Mavis is the first story in Kurt Becker's Animal Adventure Series and was beautifully illustrated by Joana Félix Mink. It is geared toward kids ages 4-9 and is perfect for gifted early readers as well as older children who find reading challenging but still appreciate the storyline.

At the end of Fred & Mavis, you will find author notes, Parent Discussion questions, and a Seek and Find interactive to encourage both parents and educators to continue with the lessons learned throughout the story.
