Tanna Spurlock is a small-time, middle aged, quirky belly dance teacher, living in the beautiful lush swampy forests of rural East Texas. They say opposites attract and it must be true, because she is married to a handsome, buttoned up, strait-laced, old-fashioned cowboy named Jamie Spurlock. Tanna is a little more... open minded, which gets her into a lot of trouble. Jamie has to put up with a lot, but he has a few good reasons of his own, to be married to a woman like her.

She has an unusual childhood, growing up with her Indian/Creole grandmother, in an old Victorian Antebellum Hotel in little ole Murry Texas. And Murry itself has an underlying secret paranormal community, that no one wants to see come to the surface. Tanna was a quiet sullen child growing up, due to bullying, but also due to the fact, there was something really different about her. Her mother thought she had a disability, but her grandmother told her, she had a gift.
Tanna's disability, or gift, whichever one you want to call it, is... she can see the UNDEAD, and I don't mean just ghosts. But her gift went away when she grew up, but now it's coming back! Problem is, she can't discern, who is living or who is dead.

Now Tanna wants to move back to her home town, Murry Texas, and renovate the hotel she inherited. However a few odd things start happening, and she wonders, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to move back, after all these years. Seems someone is out for revenge for a murder that happened seventy years ago at the hotel. No matter how much Tanna Spurlock tries to stay out of trouble, seems like trouble always follows.
