Description
A clean, tender, heartwarming story of a Cajun family.
Painted against the backdrop of the Louisiana wet lands in the early 1900s, this is a story of courage, commitment and love.
With the death of her father, Marguerite finds herself in a desperate situation. In a leap of faith, she agrees to marry Emment Broussard, a former schoolmate burdened with the responsibility of raising three children alone. Trusting she can one day learn to love him, she leaves the safety of town and the conveniences of indoor plumbing and electricity, to follow the poor farmer to the dilapidated shack on the edge of the swamp.
Haunted by a past filled with heartbreak, Emment is not looking for a soulmate. He is determined never to open his heart to love again. All he needs is a helping hand during trapping season. Someone to tend to the house and care for the young'uns. Nothin' more, nothin' less.
The children, guarding their hearts, are not willing to welcome another into their family. Callie, in particular, remains steadfast to ensure Pa doesn't stray too far from Ma's memory. The spoiled town woman should not have followed her father home.
Will Marguerite, realizing she doesn't belong, be relieved when she is asked to leave in the Spring, or will her caring determination thaw the frozen hearts of Emment and the children?
