Description
Queen of Sorrow - a young Italian girl's WW2 - a young boy born in poverty in England, and an Italian girl at the opposite end of the social spectrum in Italy, rival countries of World War 11, whose paths cross during the dying embers, and later chapters, of the conflict in Italy. Other factions attempt savagely to establish control of Trieste and its international port as the war changes lives, minds and boundaries. The communist front violently tries to control the entire city on the Slovenian border, while the only extermination camp in Italy reaches its inevitable downfall. During these events Bianca, struggles to withstand the cruel actions of her father and his shady associates. When a possible saviour enters her life she attempts to survive in a new daunting existence in Palmanova where the British soldiers are billeted. The story follows her endeavours to find happiness, or will she eventually be discarded, another casualty of war?
