After being sustained in a state of hibernation for half a millennium inside an obsidian capsule, Minax Bolide is suddenly freed of his volcanic resting place during an eruption. He is the next Starwielder, awakened by what appears at first to be random happenstance.

Cyngosa Maelstrom and Khelu Odena are non-related siblings but growing up together from very rough, but different backgrounds in the same town of Olcan. Cyngosa's birth had tragic consequences, and grew up in a broken household. Khelu was a child orphan and refugee, the sole survivor of her family's escape attempt from a terrible war. Cyngosa has been haunted by visions from angels, visiting him periodically in his dreams since he was a child.
