Description

At 45, the last thing Rachel expected from her routine OB-GYN appointment was a positive pregnancy test. She and her no-strings-attached arrangement with Marquis was working out just fine, and having a baby simply wasn't part of her plan. Now that she knows she's pregnant and not perimenopausal, Rachel has some big decisions to make. What does this mean for Rachel and Marquis?

Ashley is about to graduate college with her high school sweetheart, TJ, a fellow student. As terrible timing would have it, TJ breaks up with her and days later she wakes up nauseous with outlandish cravings. Several positive pregnancy tests and unanswered phone calls to TJ later, the results are positive: Ashley's going to have a baby, and she's going to have to do it alone. But how?

Miranda and Rose have always wanted to be parents, dreaming of having a baby since before their first unsuccessful efforts a year ago. Despite Rose's very traditional Hispanic mother's difficulty accepting their same-sex marriage, while also managing life's challenges, they refuse to give up. How will they move forward with their dream of motherhood?

Michelle has suffered an unimaginable loss, and her solution for recovery is to have a baby. Despite being single, and still navigating the twists and turns of tremendous grief, she decides to push forward with becoming a mother. With the support of her very best friend, Michelle believes she is finally on her way to healing. But how can she face motherhood alone?

A Mother's Love is an intimate tapestry woven together by the lives of four Black and Brown women who couldn't be more different but who share so many of the same hopes, dreams, and fears. Through glimpses into each of their experiences, this tender novella investigates how family, friendship, and most of all, love, can conquer uncertainty, and happiness can bloom where least expected.
