Description
"I know what a GMO is," The Prime Minister snapped, 'A genetically modified organism. What I want to know is what these fish are doing in a British lake?'
Publishing magnate Andrew Rothstone's ambition is to create a freshwater sports fish to equal the thrill of big game fishing for Marlin and Shark. He hires genetic scientist Michael Phipps and they construct a laboratory at Rothstone Hall. The project is successful but terminated when his company fails.
Ten years later, the Government are promoting bio and genetic engineering in the UK. When dangerous GM fish are discovered in Rothstone's Yorkshire Lake, they fear public opinion will turn against responsible genetic research. Ministers organise a cover up and the wholesale destruction of the fish. Professor Rex Chamberlain's advice to keep fish for research is overruled. But when the GMO's get loose in the waterways, it is Chamberlain who must find a solution.
