Description
"The Innocent-The Evil"
The disappearance of a little boy in Dayton Ohio, late July 1945 is symbolic of humanity surrendering any semblance of innocence. August 6th, 1945"Little Boy", the first Atomic Bomb is dropped on Japan, opening the world's door to grief and misery that will from then on remain a jar.
"The Fantasy -The Reality"
A young boy recalls his fright on seeing the flying blue monkeys of the "Wizard of Oz". Six years later that terror pales in comparison to what he sees in Saturday matinee newsreels, the "Jap Zero" had replaced the blue monkeys. Flaming explosions and mushroom clouds once generated by a fraudulent wizard were now a terrifying reality.
"The Wise-The Naive"
A well educated middle class young man, who due to a childhood accident is declared to be "4-F" by recruiters. An acquaintance made while "Doing his part for the war" in the farm fields of California, leads him to Dayton, Ohio early August 1945, as the war with Japan rages on. It is there he gently confronts another's error in judgment.
"The Sacrifice"
A gentle sensitive man, husband, father, grandfather and WWI military officer is unable to separate himself from the world's suffering. Re-commissioned in 1942, he regrettably finds himself contributing to the design of the detonation device for the Plutonium bomb to be dropped on "Nagasaki".
"Tickling the Dragon's Tail" engages the journalistic style of the 1940's weekly publication "LIFE" magazine. Its characteristic rapid pace carries this hybrid "Historic -Fiction" through *WWIl" to the point, where what was believed to be an "Impossible" scientific objective, is achieved. Fictional characters represent "America" in a world at war.
