Description
The priests of the Bhadeshwar Royal family temple had never seen a girl like this born in their household. The household had rules. You wore orange or red on Tuesdays and white or green on Fridays. Entering an elder's room meant you took off your shoes in respect.
Girls were seen but not heard. They were obedient and servile.
Then came Diyali. She wanted her rights. She wanted freedom. They quickly sent her off to her maternal uncle's house.
She grew up being everything a good girl was not. She grew up with the decision to not let any man control her.
Rupendre grew up with an active suspicion of women. He had seen how they threw themselves at the men in his family. He had seen their deceit and their cruelty. He vowed never to let any one woman take control of him. He was cynical when they approached him and disrespected many by sharing them with his best friend. Then came Diyali. She created turbulence where his life had been smooth. He wanted her. But she did not want him.
Their families were keen that they marry.
She ran. He was not a chaser.
