Description
Corie Wagner loves her work with the Central Center, a community center in a lower income part of the city, where she offers job search opportunities, counseling and after school activities for at risk kids. When a teen from her center is threatened, she realizes he hasn't been seen in several days.
Malik, a teen that has been trying to get his life together is missing and Corie has to find him. When the search begins to involve threats on her health and on Malik's life she accepts help from Zach Ryan, a Brotherhood Protector, who is visiting his former foster mother.
Zach grew up in the central neighborhood and was given a second chance by Helen, his foster mother. When he visits her, he meets Corie, the social worker who lives and works in the city. Corie and Zach spend days walking the streets, trying to find Malik. When Corie is attacked, Zach realizes he feels more than just professional concern for her.
Zach and Corie have to find Malik before a kill order is enforced on him. Helen's health, lack of information, and repeated threats stall them. Can they find Malik in time to prevent his murder, and will they recognize the love that is growing between them?
