Description

NIGHTSONG, a young adult fantasy novel, tells the story of Darien; a young man violently torn from his quiet life in the mountain village of Breathwynd when men known Bloodsetters ravage his home.
During his travels to seek answers Darien encounters a group of mercenaries led by the enigmatic and merciless General Lockhart. Darien is given little choice about joining the group, but finds that the mercenaries are also seeking the Bloodsetters, but for reasons that Lockhart hasn't seen fit to share. During their journey they are ambushed and in their flight they find themselves sheltering in The Grove, a forbidding place of leftover magic from ancient days. It is within The Grove that Darien becomes enchanted by a mythical black dragon struggling in the throes of live childbirth. Darien saves the life of the newborn infant and inherits the mystical abilities of the 'Ryudojin', an ability once thought lost to myth and legend. Now sharing a physical and emotional bond with baby Koseki, Darien attempts to control the odd visions that overwhelm him at the most inconvenient of times as well as the physical changes that accompanied his transformation. As if that wasn't enough, he finds that he and Koseki also share emotions through their link and that he best get things under control fast before he loses his mind or embarrasses himself. Or both.
