Description
In Jen Wieber's second book, You Will Read a Poem Today, (A collection of stories and poems that provide inspiration, humor, and healing for personal growth and mindful living) she delves deeper into the intricacies of the human journey, providing much needed inspiration, humor, and healing for those who wish to live a fuller, brighter life. Jen taps into her rich experience as an educator, wife, mother, daughter, friend, and above all, human being, to bring her readers a much-needed perspective for personal growth and healthy mindset. Jen has the ability to make her reader laugh, nod, and cry all at the same time. Within the mix of creative poems, prose, and short stories, Jen also includes humorous and motivational illustrations that explore the subjects of mental health, depression, loneliness, hope, change, empty nest, parent-child relationships, self-esteem, empowerment, motivation, perspective, love, romance, healthy relationships, commitment, and confidence. Using the fun and lore of fortune cookies, Jen reminds us that the luck and fortune is not in the paper itself, but actually lives inside of each one of us.
A Note from Jen:
Who is this book for?
It's for You, Whoever and Wherever You Are
Yes, this book is for you -- I am not sure where you are in life, what kind of week you are having, or how you even found your way here, but I hope this book feels like home, an open door, and a knowing nod all at once. Within these pages, you will find poems and stories, funny thoughts and pep talks, and even a couple recipes thrown in for good measure.
This is my heart laid out in words, in hopes that they meet you right where you are, and maybe you'll find that my words feel a little bit like yours, too. (I'm betting they do!)
I've learned that life is made up of everyday moments and big emotions and that laughter and tears can share the same breath. We are all walking stories, here on this planet for the very first time, doing the best we can with what we have. If you find that you need a break, or a reminder that you're not alone in this wild ride, c'mon in. I wrote these things with the hope that maybe my own journey might help lighten yours a little, give you a bit of laughter, and maybe even encourage you to share your real, authentic self with the world. The world needs you. Just as you are right now.
Life isn't about waiting for luck to arrive -- it's about the willingness to crack ourselves wide open to find the beauty already inside. The luck isn't in the paper. Your luck -- your unique magnetism, your ways of seeing the world, and the way in which you extend love and offering to others -- lives inside of you and it's time the world gets to see more of you. Your luck is in your courage and your ability to say yes to all that life has for you. The fortune is yours to write, every single day.
Also, just in case no one has told you this, you don't need anyone's permission to be exactly who you are, but in case it helps, I give you permission to be you, beautiful you.
Here's to the joy, the mess, and the mystery of it all. It's just so good you're here.
It's just so good you're here,
Jen Wieber

Lucky
Are free fortune cookies less lucky
than the ones you pay for?
That would mean the hugs we
get without begging would mean less too.
Orchids peeking through the forest floor
would be trampled underfoot
and the way you see me without any effort
would be absent of its charm.
Or maybe
I am just hoping these words in my head
actually came to me the way luck finds
anyone searching for it.
