Description
This book examines some of the elements of how I experienced life both within Amish America and the dominant culture of America.
One of the most frightening stories I heard being preached as a child from the non-existent Amish pulpit was how not to be prideful like Jezebel. Certain ways of making my dress or arranging my hair would bring into question whether I was like Jezebel. Maybe I am a Jezebel, and maybe I am not, but who gets to decide that, and what gives them the authority over my body to do so?
