Description

I grew up as the only Black child in a white foster family. From an early age, I knew I was different -- not just in appearance, but in how I was treated by the world around me. In this powerful and deeply personal memoir, I share the journey of navigating racism across every stage of my life. I reflect on my life journey as a Black person in Britain, navigating a world shaped by racism and prejudice. From childhood in foster care as the only Black member of a white household, to enduring racist abuse and false allegations, the narrative unveils the painful realities faced by someone fighting to find their place in society. My experiences extend into my time in the Royal Air Force, where I faced ethnic-based victimisation, and later as a police officer, where I battled racial abuse from the public, sometimes condoned by management, as well as false racially motivated allegations from both the public and colleagues.

This book is a candid and poignant exploration of identity, resilience, and the harsh realities of systemic racism within institutions meant to protect and serve. It is a testament to the strength it takes to overcome adversity, while challenging societal norms and the systems that perpetuate inequality. A must-read for anyone seeking to understand the complexities of race, identity, and the fight for justice in Britain today.
