Description
To the casual observer, Alex and Cally appear to be the perfect couple: attractive, affluent, and enjoying the high life. However, beneath their seemingly impeccable facade lies a troubling truth that Cally is suffering, known only to those closest to her.
This story is inspired by real-life events and is set in London during the late 1970s to mid-1980s, amid the punk music scene and industry of that time. It chronicles Cally, a young girl who runs away from home and her dysfunctional family in search of love and a better life. However, when she believes she has discovered those dreams, she soon realises she is being drawn into a toxic environment dominated by a narcissistic and abusive man who dangerously leads her into a high-octane lifestyle of hedonistic excess, ultimately resulting in drug-induced squalor among the disaffected and the seedy, gang-controlled underbelly of the junkie world.
In a gripping and unsettling narrative, Cally's growth and resilience are revealed as she fights for survival in London through her courage and resolve. The first chapter takes place near the end of her journey, highlighting the deterioration of her circumstances at that point in her life. Chapter two begins the story, guiding the reader towards Cally's ultimate destination and the dangers she will inevitably face.
