It's been six months since Eli and Rani started working together.
Eli's life has really turned around. He gets to work with a partner who does her job on a team that values and respects him. He really likes the people he works with now, and that paired with the fact that he's back in touch with Max means that he's actually got a social life again.
Working with Eli has been like a breath of fresh air for Rani. After Mike, her old partner, up and left, she'd been a mess. Jason had done his best to fill in as her partner, but the man was not a fan of field agent work. Now that Eli was there, she got to work with a partner who respected her abilities and didn't complain every time he had to leave the office.
Everything was going great. At least, it was until someone started sniping federal agents.
Eli, Rani, and the others will have to team up with an uncooperative ghost from the past to take on this case before one of their own gets hurt. That, of course, is easier said than done. But if anyone can do it, it's them.
