Description
Prequel to The Prendergast of The Yard Casebook series of detective thrillers.
Enrolled against her will at anaristocratic finishing school in the wilds of Switzerland, aspiring teenage detective Heather Prendergast's life is threatened when she uncovers a demonic plot to finish her off... permanently.
Take a spoonful of Mary Shelley and add a pinch of Bram Stoker. Now stir in a splash of Stepford Wives, a measure of Saint Trinians and a soupçon of Lewis Carroll. Season with a pinch of Tom Sharpe and flavour with essence of P.G. Wodehouse. Top with a crust of Agatha, a sprinkling of Sherlock, a dusting of satire, a peppering of Gothic horror and glaze with a hamfisted fumble of Prendergast of The Yard. Bake well and voila - The Sinisterhood of Celebrity Psyclones.
What on Earth Did I Just Read?! (In the Best Way Possible)

I just finished this book, and honestly... wow. You've got this main character who's this 18-year-old wannabe detective, and her aunt sticks her in this super-posh, super-creepy finishing school in Switzerland. Right away, you know something is off. The staff are all a strange bunch. The best part is the humor. This book is funny. It's completely unhinged. The author's writing is full of crazy puns and ridiculous descriptions that had me laughing. The main character's roommate, Sophie, is an absolute legend and steals every single scene she's in. It's not perfect. The plot is all over the place, like, it just keeps getting crazier and crazier until you're not even sure what's happening. It's a total farce. But that's also what makes it so fun. It's like a wild, satirical black comedy that just keeps one-upping its own absurdity. If you're looking for something that's just pure, absurd fun and doesn't take itself seriously at all, you'll love this. Definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for it
