From the moment she arrives at Ocklawaha Florida, things are eerie. On a tour of the house where Ma Barker was killed, Betty, an elderly woman on the tour is fixated on Lena. While in the home's living room, Lena hears a haunting melody from bygone days that's harrowing and she flees.
Betty's old enough to possibly know more about Ma Barker's story, and Lena visits with her. Each encounter becomes more and more ominous. Betty's hiding something, only leaving small clues for Lena to follow. That old woman knows more than she's letting on.
Each time she visits, Lena is drawn closer to the answer to her questions, but also deeper into learning terrifying secrets. Life and death secrets. A lot more than a book is at stake. Her life.
And her death.
