Description
Author John D. Ottini decided to combine his favorite time of the year Christmas, with his favorite form of poetry, the haiku, and the result is this wonderful little book of 52 Christmas Haiku.
He's hopeful that you'll find these Christmas haiku poems, eloquent, heart-warming, thoughtful, nostalgic and often humorous.
If you haven't read any his previous haiku books, you might be wondering what exactly a haiku is. Well, a haiku is a short poem that consists of three lines. The first line must contain no more than five syllables, the second seven syllables, and the last, again five syllables
.
The challenge and enjoyment in crafting a haiku is in attempting to portray a meaningful or humorous thought or emotion using only three lines and seventeen syllables.
That was his challenge in writing the haikus in his first two books, and the same is true for this one.
