Description
When reporter Julia Wright returns to her family's orchard for the annual harvest festival, she expects apple pie and nostalgia -- not a decades-old crime scene. Unearthed beneath an old apple tree lies a bloodstained scarf, a broken locket, and the ID of a girl who vanished in 1973.
Armed with her sharp wit, insatiable curiosity, and her loyal golden retriever Cooper, Julia can't resist digging into Maple Bay's forgotten past. Detective Andrew Vance warns her to leave it alone, but when clues point toward The Keepers, a secretive society once tied to her own grandmother, walking away isn't an option.
As gossip swirls, suspicion lands squarely on Julia herself -- and two locals, Councilman Hale, who oversaw the orchard's restoration, and teacher Ruth Collins, who knew the missing girl, seem to know more than they admit.
Now, someone wants the past buried again. If Julia can't uncover the truth before the festival ends, the next body beneath the apple trees could be hers.
