Description
The rain came down in sheets.
I stood at the bus stop for three full hours.
Ethan never showed up.
He had promised he would.
Just as I was about to give up and call a cab, my phone buzzed.
A short message from him -- sent five minutes earlier.
"Something came up. I can't make it."
I turned away.
And almost immediately, I saw a new post on social media.
It was from his assistant.
Her name was Vivian.
The photo showed a familiar steering wheel.
The caption read:
"Thanks for driving me home, boss."
If this had been the past, I would have called him over and over.
Sent message after message.
Demanded an explanation.
But this time, I didn't do any of that.
I simply raised my hand and calmly tapped the "Like" button.
Then I picked up my suitcase and walked away.
