Description
This book is a reflection on experience, resilience, and the lessons that emerge through challenge. Claretta Green, MSN, APRN, FNP-c, shares insights shaped by her real-life experiences as a nurse at the Charleston Veterans Administration Medical Center. She recounts the loss of her ability to practice as a nurse practitioner before completing her graduate education, the impact of systemic failures and racial bias, and the personal struggles with depression and financial hardship that followed.
Through honest reflection and measured storytelling, My Empty Space invites readers to consider the effects of institutional decisions, the importance of advocacy, and the resilience required to navigate professional and personal setbacks. It is written for those seeking perspective, encouragement, and thoughtful connection through lived truth.
Claretta Green is a lifelong resident of Charleston, South Carolina, and a single mother of two adult children. After the age of thirty, she became a surgical technologist and earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Trident Technical College. She later completed both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing.
