Description
Kyeriss and Joyous are fresh off the holidays on a rare high, warm, locked in, finally talking about a real future. Kids. Trips. Getting out the hood. Kyeriss swears he's done with the streets and the bodies that came with his name, but the gun by the bed, the late calls, the way he still moves is a reminder that walking away from that life ain't that simple.
He tries to step back for real telling his right-hand he's out, looking into legit money, trying to be the man Joyous deserves. Joyous is riding for him, but she's not blind. She knows the streets don't let go easy, and his mama, Caress, damn sure ain't helping. Caress is old-school: the game fed them, clothed them, kept them safe after Kyeriss's father was killed. To her, Kyeriss "going soft" is disrespect and danger all in one.
Just when he starts to believe he can really change, his past spins the block. A powerful plug from his old life hits his line with one last job... big bread, clean exit, no loose ends.
