Description
Two strangers, one rescue cottage, and a new beginning.
After recent family struggles, Emilia Carter knows she needs a fresh start. She arrives in Blue Heron Bay just as a storm breaks, soaked and overwhelmed, only to find the animal rescue cottage her grandmother once cherished in chaos, the gate open and puppies scattering through the rain.
She rushes after them until Nathan Keats, the town's bookstore owner, appears with donated supplies and helps herd the little escapees inside.
The cottage is clearly struggling. Nathan quietly makes note -- moved by what Emilia doesn't say out loud. His support runs deeper than she realizes.
Cottage repairs place Emilia and Nathan together again and again. Puppies, dinners, and late night talks slowly unraveling their early awkwardness.
But when a high profile developer targets the land and legal trouble forces Emilia into Nathan's spare room, the town splits. Some see profit, others fight to keep Blue Heron Bay special.
The truth becomes impossible to ignore: she could lose the shelter, her grandmother's legacy, and the man she's falling for.
